Nehemiah was a layman. He served as the cup bearer to the Persian king before leading a group of Jews to Jerusalem in order to rebuild the city walls.
Under Nehemiah’s leadership, the Jews withstood opposition and learnt to work together to accomplish their goal.
Nehemiah’s humility before God provided an example for the people. He did not claim glory for himself but always gave God the credit for his successes.
The book of Nehemiah shows us the kind of significant impact one individual can have on a nation.
As we start this series it’s a great idea to re read Nehemiah for yourself, if you are extremely dedicated add in the book of Ezra.
